氨氮是指水中以游离氨(NH3)和铵离子(NH4+)形式存在的氮。 动物性有机物的含氮量一般较植物性有机物为高。同时，人畜粪便中含氮有机物很不稳定，容易分解成氨。因此，水中氨氮含量增高时指以氨或铵离子形式存在的化合氮。
在化肥工业、稀土以及其它很多化工生产过程中都会产生一定量的氯化铵废水，由于氯化铵废水中氨氮含量较高且存在氯离子,若直接排放,会对水体产生一定的污染,随着排放量不断增长,污染程度也在加大 ，而氯化铵废水的处理又是很大的难题。采用蒸发浓缩工艺，蒸汽消耗高，并且氯化铵溶液对材质的腐蚀十分严重。其中，采用多效蒸发的蒸发器形式较为普遍。但近年来，随着蒸汽价格的飞速上涨，该种蒸发过程的能耗也使得广大企业负担急剧增大，因此，寻找一种节能的蒸发技术显得非常迫切。

其基本原理是将从结晶器分离出来的二次蒸汽经压缩机压缩后，温度、压力升高，热焓增大，然后进入蒸发器加热室冷凝并释放出潜热。受热侧的料液也得到热量后沸腾汽化产生饱和气体（即二次蒸汽）。二次蒸汽经分离器后进入压缩机，重复上述过程。同时冷凝下来的冷凝水也可以给进系统的原料预热，这样就可以充分回收利用蒸汽的潜热，达到节能降耗的目的，同时还省去了冷却水系统。

The basic principle is that the secondary steam, which is separated from the crystallizer, is compressed by the compressor, the temperature and pressure rise, the heat enthalpy increases, and then the evaporator heating chamber condenses and releases the latent heat. The liquid in the heating side also gets the heat and the boiling vaporization produces the saturated gas (i.e., the secondary steam). After the secondary steam passes the separator, it enters the compressor and repeats the above procedure. At the same time, the condensation water of cooling down can feed raw material preheating system, so that you can fully recycle the latent heat of steam, achieve the goal of saving energy and reducing consumption, but also save the cooling water system.
